All categories disappeared from live page but shown in dashboard

    Even though nothing has changed and categories were fine last year all categories has disappeared from the live page now.

    In the dashboard I can see all 8 categories under ‘Right Now’ but if I click on categories there are non listed. Also if I try to add a new post there are no categories to assign it.

    Site is on internal network so no access possible from outside.

    Any known issues, or any idea how to get the categories fully back?

    @mreinicke,

    Someone else had this very issue on the forum yesterday. I worked with them for a little while and it came down to DB being corrupt. We never did get to the bottom of it. Not saying that this is the issue you are having at the moment but interesting that two people would have a similar problem shortly after upgrading to 2.9 – I’m assuming you just upgraded to 2.9.

    I wander whether there’s anything in WordPress Trac fixed and due in 2.9.1?

    PS. I’m curious – are you able to delete an existing category? – the person yesterday was not able to.

    anyone have a fix for this?
    i requested my host to restart mysql or empty out the /tmp file as I have read in other online resources. not sure if it’ll fix it
