Categories question

Hi,
I’m working with Parent and Child categories.
I have Parent Category 1 and Child categories 1A, 1B, 1C etc.
Currently, when people click on Parent Category 1, all the Child category posts appear, as expected.
However, I’m wondering if there’s a way for this to happen: When people click on the Parent Category 1, they’d get a unique post exclusively for Parent Category 1 and no Child category posts appear in the content area.

In other words: The parent category might be “Fruits” and people would click on Fruits for an overall definition post. But child category posts about “Apples”, “Oranges” etc. would not appear along with that definition post.
