• Hello WP’ers,

Are you a deep-dive Google Analytics + WordPress Permalink-when-used-with-Pages whiz? If you are…then this post is for you!

Does you know how to properly provision Google Analytics’ “Goal Settings” function when WordPress permalinks are being used for each Page (not Post)?

    >>Assume that Permalinks make use of WP’s “Custom Structure” function. For example, a URL for an information request page might be: http://www.domainname.com/requestinfo

Specifically, when using “Custom Structure” Permalinks for Pages–in Google Analytics–what should be used as the URL in a Goal Step for the main page of the domain (i.e., http://www.domainname.com)?

Then, for each other page in the funnel?

    Here’s an example funnel:

    http://www.domainname.com
    http://www.domainname.com/requestinfo
    http://www.domainname.com/confirmation
    http://www.domainname.com/download
    http://www.domainname.com/getevenmoreinfo

I’m really stumped by what to put into the GA step for the home page.

I’ve tried ‘/index.php’ and it looks like it’s not working. In fact, my whole Goal Report looks like it’s not working (FYI: GA does report that it’s receiving data from the affected website, so the tag is properly provisioned).

Welcome your experienced suggestions with thanks!

    Plane Wryter
