WP loading Theme several times

    I am having a wierd error on my site. Nothing visual though. Causing a problem with a plugin. When I visit my site (tested on multiple sites however), WP is actually loading my theme several times in the background before displaying. For example, if I add a PHP mail function call in the header file, sending an email to myself, then refresh my site, I will receive 7 emails. When I should only receive 1. ??? Is there any reason for this? Does WP do something that I am unaware of?

    Ok to add to it. I ran some more test, and it is not loading index.php several times. But a get_header() call within the index.php call does run mulitple times, as well as get_footer() and get_sidebar().
