Support » Fixing WordPress » Hacked: “Single Post” setting gone

  • So a blog I set up for one of my clients was hacked at http://www.atssportsblog.com.

I got it back up and running and locked it down.

Now, though, when you click on an individual post, there is nothing there…the page is blank.

I noticed when I go to Appearance –> Editor, the “Single Post” link and settings page is gone.

I tried reinstalling the latest version of WordPress but the “Single Post” options are still missing.

Any idea how to get this back? Thanks.

  • Sounds like you’ve lost your theme’s single.php template file. Download a fresh copy of the theme, extract single.php and upload it to the correct theme folder in wp-content/themes.

    I did try that already.

In fact, when I switch to the default theme, you can then at least READ single posts.

But when you go into Appearance –> Editor, the option to edit “Single Post” is still gone even in the default theme.

    Any ideas?

Actually, you are correct. They removed “single.php” from the theme.

I restored it and we’re not back in business.

    Thanks!
