• I am fairly new to WP but learning fast, however, I am having problems installing any of the comments plugins on my friends WP blog.

He has a customized version of Mainstream 1 by WooThemes. The only comment form I can get to work is Contact Form 7 and we don’t like this one.

    The blog is: http://davedwilliamson.com/

I have tried almost every comment plug-in I can find. Do I also have to have Contact Form 7 activated to use one of the other plug in’s? I have it deactivated right now.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • I’m trying to figure out exactly what you mean?

Are you looking for a way for someone to leave comments on your posts/pages, or for a contact form?

my favourite contact form is cforms…

if you are looking for comments, do you have them enabled? From your admin panel, settings->discussion takes care of the settings.

Also, I’m not familiar with your theme…but for the comments to appear, they have to be enabled in your theme. If you have comments enabled in your settings, but still can’t see them, switch back to the default theme and check it out…. If comments work there, then you need to change themes, or code the comments into your desired theme. Its not so hard.

I apologize if I did not explain my situation very well. Very frustrated looking and looking for a fix.

Yes, we are wanting a way for people to leave comments.

Yes, each plug in that I have installed, I make sure it is activated and have the settings configured, if needed and they still do not work.

I am also thinking it is the customized theme that is causing the problems, however, he has paid for this and he doesn’t want to switch to another theme. So I guess we are at a catch-22 situation.

I am very limited in my knowledge of coding in WordPress so far, so I am not sure where to even alter the code. Would it be in the stylesheet or one of the other coded forms?

I’m confused as to why you have 2 comment forms….

Ok first off the first form is a CONTACT form, not a comment form. You have that mislabed.

And why are you including a contact from in a post?…

Secondly an observation, the fact that I have to enter my twitter username and password to retweet something? um no.

So you have a working mislabeled contact form and comments, other than some theme mixups I’m not sure what isn’t working?

LOL, Because I have tried so many different plug-in’s, I’ve confused myself.

I cannot find a comment form to show up anywhere on the blog. It looks as though I am going to have to learn how to code this thing myself.

Just looked at the blog again and that comment form was NOT there before. Does it sometimes take a while for the plug in’s to show up?
