I swear I’m really thinking about leaving wordpress behind for good. Tired of the crappy coded themes, the lack of support in the forums, and the hastle of everything. Ok, now that I got that off my chest, I hope someone can help me here. I’ve never had any luck getting responses in this forum, so hope that changes.

I just did a fresh installation of wordpress, installed new them properly, and viewed my page. Everything looks fine. I go to change the permalink structure and everything goes haywire. Of course I don’t want to use the horrible default structure.

Here is the error message I receive:

Can anyone please tell me why when I change my permalink structure to anything other than the default, my site won’t work? Its a brand new installation too. Here is the message it get at the top of my browser when I visit the site:

catchable fatal error: object of class wp_error could not be converted to string in /wp-content/themes/lcp_red/404.php on line 29.

  • It sounds like changing the permalink structure did not update/create your .htaccess file. Check for messages on the settings page.

The error in your theme is a separate issue in that theme’s 404 page, you could perhaps try contacting the theme author about it.
