Hey I just found out that I’m using PHP4. So how do I upgrade to PHP5? Do I upgrade or my hosting company?
Thanks
You probably just have to turn it on. Contact your hosting company.
I email the hosting company, and they’re suggesting that I upgrade to their new server in order for me to have PHP5. I’m not happy with this because they want me to backup everything including; files, databases, email content, etc. They expect me to learn all this, and have it done in a blink of an eye. This is too much of a hassle, and definitely time consuming.
Is there a way where I can still use the older version of ‘Smart archives’ with PHP4?
If not, then I will have to look for another alternative. Damn, just when everything was going smoothly until this happened :(.
If I were you, I’d be looking for another host. You shouldn’t need to pay more just to have PHP5.
Anyway, if you have cPanel, there’s a button that does all the backups for you.
If not, you can still use the original Smart Archives plugin, which works with PHP4.
Hey scribu, I definitely concur. What is very hard to understand is the fact, they have a paid service to do all the backup files, etc, and move it to the new server. I’m not happy with this, but I think I am looking else where for hosting next year for sure.
Thanks for the link, I will look into it and see how I go.
CHEERS 🙂
