   I would like to know if there's a function of wordpress that could temporarily close the blog for visitors and only admins who has to login could read the blog?

   If not, I suggest wordpress to have this function since it is better for admin to edit and test their webpages and fix problems or bugs while visitors couldn't access the website.

   This solution is a quick plugin that works very well, has a customizable message and fits your request perfectly. It is also currently working fine for me on WP 2.8.5.
