Individual sidebar content on a per-page basis...anyone know if this is possible?

I find the sidebar very restricting. How do I have different sets of sidebar content for different pages? The content of my various pages requires completely different sidebar content too...for relevancy.

How is this done in Wordpress?

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages

would be a good start....I'm not totally sure, but I'd assume you could make a page template, and include a different sidebar with it...

Might be a way, I guess.....the only thing is I can't see any way in the page edit dialogue to assign a different or unique template?

RVoodoo, it states on that codex page you referenced the following:

WordPress can be configured to use different Page Templates for different Pages. Toward the bottom of the Write > Page administration panel (or on the sidebar, depending on which version of WordPress you are using) is a drop-down labeled "Page Template." From there you can select which Template will be used when displaying this particular Page.

I'm using 2.8.5.......can't see any dropdown template selector anywhere....???

So just how does one use different templates?...
