   I am working on moving a site over to Wordpress and installed the latest version (2.8.5). I am using the default category widget in the sidebar and when I select any category it returns every post. The same thing happens for the tags.

   i don`t see anything wrong with your categories.

   same here. Why the categories and tags pages show all posts like the home page?

   solved. there is a plugin incompatibility. Dunno which one but... try to disable your plugins and reenable them one by one to find out which one causes this sh...!

   I tried deactivating and reactivating all my plugins and it didn't work. Can't figure out whats going on...

   Might try this:

   Delete/rename your .htaccess and then update/save your permalinks via Settings->Permalinks.

   I deleted the .htaccess file and then changed and updated the permalink structure a couple times. Nothing worked to solve the problem.

   If changing to the WordPress Default theme doesn't solve the problem, then please provide a link to see the site.

   Categories worked when I selected default theme.
