   Is there documentation as to what each user roll is and how I should allow access? Example I set up another user to test the site. As a subscriber. This did not allow the user to post. What should I use?

   Roles and Capabilites is the closest...

   But remember a plugin can be used to revise said Roles. See the resources section of that article

   Thanks for that, it helps. But, it appears that when a user signs up they are automaticly assigned as a subscriber. I thought I would like to have them at least be a contributer ( I think) Maybe even an author.)

   Or better yet ask a question as in this forum.

   Is there a way to change the default setting when a new user signs up?

   See the New User Default Role setting in Administration > Settings > General

   Thank you MichaelH. I tried that three times and for some reason it would not save the setting. I just did it again so I'll test it again. Thanks, Jim
