Hi,
I m totally new to this site. I want to make a website. I dont even know what wordpress can do for me? Should i install wordpress? Should i have to contact a host company before installing wordpress? Is wordpress' installation free? My PC is not in a good condition, so is it a good idea to install wordpress on my PC?
Plz erase my confusion and help me out so that i could make a website.

Better to get a free blog at http://wordpress.com and then once you know that you like WordPress you can purchase a domain, purchase hosting, and install WordPress there.

i have been indulged in blogging, but it was not of wordpress but blogspot. I m not new to blog idea, but now i want to make my own website and i dont know from where to start? I want to make a website about free books and i came to know through surfing that wordpress is good for such kind of websites.
Now i m confused about some few points:
1)Should i install wordpress?
2)Should i have to contact a host company before installing wordpress?
3) Is wordpress' installation free?
Whether wordpress is like a site builder?
To use WordPress:
1. Buy a domain
2. Buy a hosting plan
3. Install WordPress

I have just created a wordpress blog to have an idea about it. It seems to be a very good blog service, in fact more than blogspot. I just wonder that if people can make free blog then why do they go for spending money.... I mean to buy a domain, hosting plan etc?
If i start my blog about free books and dont buy a domain and hosting plan, would it be a hindrance to earning money through adds? Or they give limited space and bandwidth to free users which might be unlimited if we buy it? (Despite an old user of internet i m unable to understand this simple point).
Another more important question is: If I make a free blog, can i transformed it into a full-fledged wordpress website by purchasing domain and hosting service later??
I don't believe you can earn revenue from ads at wordpress.COM.
Yes you can move from wordpress.COM to a self-hosted blog later. Use Tools->Export at wordpress.COM and after you've installed your new blog at your domain/hosting use Tools->Import->WordPress.

I mean there r lots of websites powered by wordpress....
Assuming that you do understand there is a difference between wordpress.COM and your own self-hosted blog, your question about why you can't make money on ads at wordpress.COM should be addressed to http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
Of course on your own self-hosted blog you can do whatever you want.

Can u plz guide me that if i buy hosting service from wordpress, can i upload unlimited images, videos and audios?
