trouble with OpenID while hosting own site (3 posts)

I host wordpress on my own site: www.freshstitches.com. So, the blog's address is: www.freshstitches.com/wordpress.

I want to be able to use OpenID to comment on other people's blogs. I installed the open ID plugin. The note says: The Blog Owner will be able to use the blog address (http://www.freshstitches.com/wordpress/) as their OpenID. If this is a single-user blog, you should set this to your account.

However, when I attempt to use the openID, I am told that it cannot be verified.

Under 'Your Verified OpenIDs' on my dashboard, I tried to add the openID, and received: Error: Could not discover an OpenID identity server endpoint at the url: http://www.freshstitches.com/wordpress

    How do I fix this?
    thanks

well, it looks like the plugin is installed properly and working for the most part... Try logging in at http://testid.org/examples/consumer/ using the OpenID http://www.freshstitches.com/wordpress/?author=1

If that works, then it's just a problem of getting the Blog Owner stuff working. First, make sure you're account is set as the blog owner. Then go to your "Reading Settings" admin page and look at the first option "Front page displays". If you have "Your latest posts" selected, then switch that to "A static page", and select a page for each of "Front page" and "Posts page". It really doesn't matter which ones you select. Click "Save Changes", then change it back to "Your latest posts" and click "Save Changes" again. If you already had it set to "A static page", then you don't actually need to do anything here... that's not the problem.

If none of that works, let me know and we'll try diagnosing it from there. Also, you'll want to install the xrds-simple plugin if you haven't already to fully take advantage of the OpenID provider.
