I set up permalinks that allow the shortest possible URLs for POSTS, but how do I do this with PAGES? For example, my site currently has this structure to get to a page about John Doe...
www.example.com/people/students/john-doe
Where do I change the settings so that the intermediary pages get excluded from the URL? I want it to look like this...
How do I do that?
If you have hierarchical pages, the short answer is, as far as I know, you can't. If you want the page url to be just john-doe then don't make the pages hierarchical.
There could be a plugin to override this.

That's what I was worried about. Unfortunately, they have to be hierarchical and I've been unable to find a plugin to get around this. :-(
