Is there a way to prevent the WP Automatic Upgrade feature from upgrading certain files? I have recently need to change a file in wp-includes for a customer and don't want to worry about having to change it again at every upgrade.

Is there a way to prevent the WP Automatic Upgrade feature from upgrading certain files? I have recently need to change a file in wp-includes for a customer and don't want to worry about having to change it again at every upgrade.
I don't think it is possible but leaving certain files of old version may create a problem in the future if Wordpress developers change those files and you do not upgrade the version of those files.
