sunflowerflyTrying to set up a site for a friend that is a council member of a small town. She wants a page that has an Events Calendar, with a list of upcoming events and their brief descriptions below the calendar sorted by date. Her idea came from here:

I installed the Event Calendar plug in, and used the "EventsCalendarLarge" to build a full page calendar. That works, but have no idea how to get the brief descriptions list, and links to full entries below it.
Any great ideas (that don't involve a bunch of ugly WP hacks)?
