    Hi there,

I've been trying to move my wordpress site from one domain to another but I'm not having much luck.

Originally I built the site here: www.samwydymus.co.uk

I want to move it to www.thecoastguard.co.uk

I updated the dns at the domain registration company and I changed the home and siturl in the mysql database to the new site but didn't have any luck. So, I've tried to restore everything back to the www.samwydymus.co.uk site so that I can try again but now I can't get the original site to work.

It may be that it's because I'm changing the primary domain in my godaddy hosting account from www.thecoastguard.co.uk to www.samwydymus.co.uk but the message on the account does say that both domains should be active while they're changing over.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!!! :)

Not knowing the details of how GoDaddy handles this... Normally when you move a domain, you need to follow these steps: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server

But it sounds like goDaddy's making it just like a folder move? Are you sure WordPress is in the right folder location for the new server name?

    It's in the root folder.

I don't need to move the wordpress site at all. I'm just changing the domain name.

Got it sorted. It was completely unrelated. I had changed the password for the database without updating the wp-config.php file. Doh!!!!
