I also cannot add widgets to my sidebars. The drag and drop function doesn’t work. I am able to tip open the widgets that are there, and can use the Close/Remove functions. But can not reorder, or add new.
I deactivate events calendar and can add widgets again.
Wordpress 2.8.5, running locally MAMP, PHP Version 5.2.6
I am running 2.8.5 and the Events beta 6.6.
With a calendar view in my side bar it stopped all other widgets working. Just got loading images.
I went back to 6.5.2 and it does not work now either.

Seems to break everything, half my site was loading images being put over standard image links… this beta should be an unstable alpha, as right from get go it does not work.
Faulty Events Calendar 6.6 beta with WordPress 2.8.6
When activated every image in every page and side bar displayed for a microsecond and then was replaced with a blacked out image.
Rolled back to Events Calendar 6.5.1 (staying with 2.8.6) and everything came back.
