[Plugin: Front-end Editor] Front-End Editor is awesome - Question re permissions (3 posts)

Hi there - First up, I wanted to say that this is an awesome plugin. Simply awesome. Thank you to Scribu for developing it.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to alter the permission settings, so that one could allow - for example - other selected registered users (e.g., subscribers, contributors, authors) to front-end-edit posts and pages? I suspect not at this point, but it would be a really helpful development, particularly if one were able to select on a per post or per page basis whether the front-end-editor is active. That would have the potential of turning WordPress into a wiki-type interface (particularly when one uses it in conjunction with a post revisions plugin, as I've done on my local test site, which lists post revisions under the post itself).

Perhaps the Front-End Editor could be made to work with Justin Tadlock's Members plugin?

Anyway, these are obviously my ideas of utopian state for this plugin. They don't detract from it already been an awesome plugin.

Front-end Editor doesn't check the role, but individual capabilities. For example, it checks the 'edit_posts' capability for editing posts.

Therefore, you can allow subscribers to edit posts by modifying the roles with a plugin like Role Manager.

Thanks very much Scribu. I've now tried the Members plugin with FEE and its works really well. Brilliant!

There are still a couple of features I'd love to see in FEE on the revisions front. I probably will get in touch with you about custom development; just need to think things through first.

    Thanks again
    Richard
