• I’m wondering if anyone knows of or uses a Calendar plugin that doesn’t have a separate input mechanism besides the Post section.

I know at least one popular Cal plugin allows a Post to be created from an event entry, but it’s still separate and very limited, requiring the user to first create an event and then go to the post and edit it to add styled content and images, etc.

What I’m looking for is a plugin that maybe adds a field in the Post section for the day of the event and then creates a calendar from posts that utilize this field. This way I can do other useful things like add images to the event posting and set a category for flexibility in display and organization.

Ideally, the plugin would have a Gregorian calendar page output (maybe a widget calendar too) and a simple sidebar dated list widget. This way links in the calendar or list go to a fully styled post display with images and more (instead of just a tiny pop up of only title and 100 character description sans images).

Any ideas about such a setup…? Thanks for any help!

Another idea that occurred to me is that a WP Calendar of posts for the sidebar (and full page version if available) with the ability to limit display to a specific category such as Events might work.

It would be too simple but might be a good stopgap measure until something better comes along. Of course, it still has to support showing in the calendar on the date of the event and NOT the date of Post publication.

I don’t see any post calendar modification that do this in the WordPress plugin archive though…

Note that I did find one barebones solution:

    Simple Upcoming Events
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-upcoming-events/

It ONLY displays a chronological list in the sidebar via a widget. There’s no calendar display.
