[resolved] Parent Attributes Not Working (10 posts)

I'm currently using the Arthemia theme, and I am trying to create child pages, however, the attributes function in the wp admin panel is not working.

Instead of allowing me to choose the type of page I want to create, it defaults on Parent and only gives a description (no drop down). I don't even see the custom template option.

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks for the tips, esmi, but nothing has worked.

I deactivated all plugins, and nothing changed. then I reset the plugins folder as you suggested, and still nothing.

I read somewhere else if I switched to the default theme then back to mine, it would help. I tried this again while the plugins were deactivated and even in the default theme the parent description was static. the layout dropdown appeared, but that's not what i need.

    any other suggestions?

Do you have any pre-existing Pages that can act as Parents?

It will only allow me to create parent pages. What i'm trying to do is make two pages under one of the parent pages.

Can you try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh copy of 2.8.4?

If I try that, will that effect my database or anything else?

Do you think if i upgrade to 2.8.5 this will be resolved?

will that effect my database or anything else?

    No. That's completely separate.

Do you think if i upgrade to 2.8.5 this will be resolved?

Hard to say. You could have 1 or more damaged files that might be corrected by an upgrade but I'd suggest trying the manual re-upload of wp-admin and wp-include first. Just ensure that you use a fresh copy of 2.8.4

esmi, i hope you're still around today because i re-uploaded wp-admin and -includes, and am still having the same problem.

i'm not sure if this made sense, but i even thought it was my browser (chrome) so i DL'd firefox and still the same thing.

    any other suggestions?
