• Hi, I wan’t to use the auto-upgrade function, but can’t get it to respond.
I provide it with my correct ftp details and click proceed, but then it redraws the dashboard up until about halfway down the toolbar on the left and simply hangs with the blank page, no matter how long I leave it.

I’ve had the same issue pretty much since the auto upgrade feature was added. I think the first one may have worked. I’ve always ended up doing it manually, but I’d really like to get it going properly.

Any ideas? it’s http://robpannell.com if that helps.

  • look at your ftp error logs for a clue
    must be a server problem

I had same issue on new WP 2.9.5 unable to upgrade, when all previous versions worked fine, last one was telling me its unable to copy files co the upgrade folder and when i went there some of files were there already!

    Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.5.zip.

    Unpacking the update.

    Could not create directory: /httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-2.8.5

    Installation Failed

This is one of the events, depends on how its working some times i get another folder. But when I am on server the folder is there already!

After many tries, I am unable to upgrade it. Its just going to freeze the screen and white background and nothing else. When i re login i see its the old version, all previous upgrades worked fine. What can i do?
