I lost my wordpress.org password. Found the page to get a new password but the password is sent to the default email in the wordpress. That email does not exist. My blog and website are locked to me it wants to use my old ID and that it will send me a new pass word, one I can never receive.
So I am caught not able to get my password re-issued. Even the emergency password re-issue does not work because it tells me that it will be sent to a dead email.
A novice lost in new software. Can you guide me to the edge of the forest?
I think you'll have to look in your database with PHPMyAdmin and reset it there. Does your web host have that installed?
Or, if it's a new wordpress install and you don't have anything in it, just delete everything and start over.

Thank you so much for taking the time. Actually I had my first five posts and about 18 pages of pages. I just started entering every combination of passwords possible. Since the original passwords are tied to the site it will not accept setting up a new account and allow access. Feels like locking you keys in the car with the engine running.

you can just as easily opt to change the email address if the md5 hashing bit makes you nervous.
