Page with recent posts

    By default wordpress shows a page with the most recent posts. Once you assign a user-created page as the front page you lose the page with most recent posts. Then you can only access posts by category. How can I create a page which contains my most recent posts?

    By creating a new page and setting that as your Posts page in Admin/Settings/Reading.

    How will the page contents affect the showing of the posts or basically the page contents are ignored and it will act just as a placeholder for the posts page link?
