I've 2 domains (lets call it http://www.domain1.com & http://www.domain2.com)under a single hosting account. These 2 domains were added through cPanel and as the result of this, 2 folders (domain1.com & domain2.com) were created in the root directory of my hosting account.

Later I installed WordPress through the cPanel. As I want to work on domain1 at this moment, I select the domain1 when prompted by the WordPress during the installation process and the WordPress was then being installed onto domain1.com/wp

After the installation of WordPress completed, I start using it to create my website. A few pages were created for example About, Product and Contact Us.

    The pages location are:
    domain1.com/wp/about
    domain1.com/wp/product
    domain1.com/wp/contactus

My problem is when I key in http://www.domain1.com, the page is not displayed. It loaded with the hosting company default template saying that the site is under construction. But when I key in http://www.domain1.com/wp/about, http://www.domain1.com/wp/product or http://www.domain1.com/wp/contactus, I am able to see all these 3 pages.

    Please advice:
    - how to set so that when user key in http://www.domain1.com, it can goes to my website
    - how to set so that the URL appears as http://www.domain1.com/about instead of http://www.domain1.com/wp/about when use surf the site

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    YTL

You installed WP in a subfolder called WP, the index of your install is at domain1.com/wp

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

But these automatic installations are something I never worked with, so hopefully you can also work 'the normal way'. Just see if that article can help you out.

    Hi Gangleri,

    My pages are now:

    http://www.domain1.com/about
    http://www.domain1.com/products
    http://www.domain1.com/contactus

and this is exactly what I want. Thanks a lot for your help.

On the other hand, when I key in http://www.domain1.com, the page is still not displayed. It still loaded with the hosting company default template saying that the site is under construction.

    Please advice.

By the way, is it mandatory requirement to have the public_html folder for a website to work? For your information, I do not have any public_html folder either in the root, the domain1 or the domain2 directory.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    YTL
