Hi I am using Section Widget with the the thematic child theme commune. I can’t seem to figure out why none of the CSS is loading for the section widget. I am pretty sure its being overridden by something.
This is what I have tried:
-Swtiching themes to see if thats the problem. But even on other themes it still just displays as a regular bulleted list.

-setting the scope multiple times through the Section Widget admin panel.

I am not that great with CSS or jQuery can someone please help me.

the site I am working on is http://www.southasianparent.com/wordpress

    Thanks in advance!!

  • Hi salman,

It seems that this link (http://www.southasianparent.com/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/section-widget/themes/theme-loader.php) is giving a 500 error. Can you check if the file (/wp-content/plugins/section-widget/themes/theme-loader.php) has been accidentally removed or renamed? If not, do you have access to your server’s error log?

Hey thanks for getting back to me!

I checked the FTP server and “theme-loader.php” is actually where it is supposed to be and named correctly.

The error log on my server gave me the following:

[Fri Oct 16 11:02:02 2009] [error] [client 128.100.205.49] SoftException in Application.cpp:601: Directory “/home/cret5730/public_html/southasianparent.com/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/section-widget” is writeable by group

[Fri Oct 16 11:01:43 2009] [error] [client 128.100.205.49] SoftException in Application.cpp:601: Directory “/home/cret5730/public_html/southasianparent.com/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/section-widget” is writeable by group, referer: http://www.southasianparent.com/wordpress/wp-admin/

Not too sure what the errors mean…

So, to reaffirm, I cant see any CSS styling for Section Widget in the admin section (preview of theme) and also on my actual site.

Thanks for all your help! I really apreciate anything you could do. I have been trying to figure this out for three days!!! argh!

    Hi,

For whatever reason, your server is configured to disallow group-writable directories. The fix is simple, simply fire up your FTP software and change the permission of the “section-widget” directory. For most FTP software this means right-click on the “section-widget” directory (under /wp-content/plugins) and then choose “Permission”. Either deselect “Writable” for “Group”, or simply enter “755” in the permission mask text box. If you have difficulties locating these options, let me know the name of your FTP software.
