Hi all,
Wrestling with a first-time WP installation. I'm trying to design a site that won't look like a blog but will include blog-like elements. Here's a breakdown of what I'm aiming for, perhaps you can give me some advice. I'm (for want of a better term) a visual artist.
-Front Page
Static, minimalist design, links to Projects, News, Contact etc. Must NOT look like a blog.
-Projects
There will be two type of projects housed at the site, and there will be multiple instances of each (Project 1, Project 2..etc). For ongoing projects I'll want a blog-like appearance as well as an image gallery. For static projects I'll just want the image gallery. People should be able to subscribe to specific projects with RSS. Image galleries should not be of the cheesey Flash variety - just thumbnails, jpgs, and a minimalist design. It might be better to think of these as portfolios, some of which will receive ongoing episodic updates.
-News
A page just for updates (e.g. My work will be on show at such-and-such place this November). People should be able to RSS this.
-Combined
News, all ongoing projects, all in one. Mainly for RSS use.
Any help at all to get me to where I want to be would be gratefully accepted. I want to avoid plugins as much as possible as when I have this running I don't want to be spending too much time running updates and keeping up with compatibility issues and all that stuff.
Thank you!
