PaulW1956I have added a plugin called iTranslator which does exactly what it says. It translates the blog posts into other languages; there are up to 40 choices.
Akismet has filter a lot of comments from Latvia/Russia and identified them as spam.
Are these really spam or is it that the spam filter doesn't recognise the language? (They are written in the native language). Are they genuine comments?
The language isn't really a problem because I can translate them to English using a translator and respond back.
