No - that's not widgets but the sidebar's default content when widgets haven't been added.
Yes, they are intended as defaults - I have one copy of iNove that works as you say - on the WordPress.com site. I was using it for testing.
However, I have a second copy of iNove on another host where I downloaded iNove through WordPress.org. The second copy differs from the first in it's handling of the posting category and tag information, in the spacing between posts, and in the sidebar. First copy has a single sidebar section and works as expected with widgets; second copy has a four part sidebar and does not work as expected with widgets - i.e. none are shown for disabling.
There are no plugins active at this time on the site that is giving me trouble. I'll try adding widgets to each of the four areas and see what happens ... see if that gets the editor back on track.
