   how do i stop the spam comments on my posts. i get about 100 spam posts a day and it sends me an email every post and i want to allow proper comments but i don't want all the emails about the spam posts. also it's a pain in the ass to have to spam and delete all those posts every couple days.

   please help.

   If you don't want to be emailed every time a spam comment is made go to:

   Settings >> Discussion

   Next to "E-mail me whenever" uncheck "A comment is held for moderation".

   To prevent spams use aksimet plugin. Also use a capctha plugin. A lot of spam is bot generated - meaning they are submitted by automated scripts not humans. Using a captcha prevents this.
