   Please excuse my ignorance, I'm somewhat new at this. Is there a way to make subcategories with this plug-in, or otherwise in WP?

   Wordpress does not support creating sub-categories for links. They did for one release and then removed that support. I have had a few requests to add support for link sub-categories in through Link Library but have not yet started implementing this feature.
