One of the advantages of having tags is now we can flag things and allow better categorization of the forums so more people can follow just what they need to. Here are a few tags I suggest to get everyone started:
- faq
- easy
- medium
- advanced
- css
- xhtml
- validation
- installation
- hosting
- addtocodex
- security
- bug
Feel free to make up tags as you go along as well, we can start aggregating them later if we need to. :)
The more topics we have tagged the better! If you can't help any other way, consider reading a topic and picking the 3-5 words/tags you think best describe the topic and would help someone else find it later.
For good examples of tags in action try using Flickr and Delicious.
Can we add:
site review or review
templates
template tags
using categories
using Pages
And a few other tag categories so people can hunt for specific help with these tags, or am I off base on the purpose of these? Maybe matching some of the Codex topics.
"Can we add"
I think you mean "suggest", because we can use whatever tags seem appropriate.
Also, I believe tags need to be in the form of a single word (as in 'sitereview'). Am I correct in this?
Anyway, I would "suggest" the following as well:
- themes (which already seems in use)
- plugin
- hack
- solution
- resource
- tip
- rss
- php
- mysql
I was talking about creating a solid list for reference, which means "adding" to the list. If everyone starts suggesting things...without a guide...what a mess. They could list themselves.
Are these going to be monitored? I see on the full blown discussion about this that RSS was added as a tag. I don't think that discussion has anything to do with RSS, so will the sysops be monitoring and editing these, or deleting in case I decided to add a tag for "Kaf"? ;)
Just curious.
" so will the sysops be monitoring and editing these, or deleting in case I decided to add a tag for "Kaf""
As long as nothing happens to me!
You can tag however you like! Use words you think will help you find the thread later if you were looking for it.
moderators/administrators can delete tags?
That function will be added soon - any reason for the question ? Nothing wierd will go on - promise :)
I love it when you hover over this forum 24/7 like a mother bear, Podz! Thank you for your endurance, and quick delete trigger finger.
