I am relatively new to building websites, but I am 'comfortable' around computers. I have already built my site on an (admittedly) inferior platform called Sitebuilder. Due to its limitations I am going to rebuild my site on Wordpress. It is an informational 'how to' site, so there will be lots of static pages with advertisements appropriately sprinkled about as well as a blog on the different subjects covered by the static informational pages. This is NOT going to be a spammy site. I want it to be clean and easy to read and navigate. I genuinely want it to be helpful to people while also letting me make some income.
In searching for a premium theme I have narrowed it down to Thesis and Frugal. However due to all the affiliate-related 'reviews' (ahem..) out there, it is hard to figure out which one would be best for me. Please give me your thoughts on which of these themes would be better with these given needs in mind:
1) Ease of use and good support for a newbie website developer - ideally I would never need to get into the code.
2) SEO optimization.
3) Changes transfer well with upgrades.
4) Reduced reliance on plugins via use of hooks and fields (eg. Google Analytics field in Thesis)
5) Clean, easy to read, content-focused, primarily static content but also a blog.
Any constructive feedback would be most appreciated!
