Having an issue with an installation of WordPress whereby the password I set doesn't work (not an obscure password by any means), so I go through the process of resetting it - manage to login once, and then if I change it or not, the password will not work next time I try to login. I have to go through the process of resetting it again - which sometimes doesn't work.
I have disabled all plugins and didn't have any errors when I applied the 2.8.4 update. Nor have I done anything odd with themes or anything like that.
Any suggestions?

All tried - no joy.
Sorry, should have specified that I did that in the first post.
This occurs for multiple users too - so I don't think I could put it down to a local issue.
Try again:
1. logout or logout with http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true
2. clear cookies
3. exit browser
4. make sure a local firewall is not causing problem
5. login with http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php
6. disable all plugins
And/or: Resetting Password and emergency password reset script

Thanks for your suggestion.
Unfortunately I ran through all of that and it didn't resolve the issue. The password was reset using the emergency password reset script - and as usual, after logging in and using the system, I logged out and was unable to log back in again.
No plugins have been enabled.
Mystery. I'd do a reupgrade. And can you use PhpMyAdmin? Use that to repair your database.

Yeah - I ran through a repair in PhpMyAdmin this evening. Unfortunately that didn't do much. I'll rebuild I guess :/
Yup, a reupgrade is all I can think of.

Alas I reinstalled in a new database and it resolved the issue. Very bizarre.
