I recently manually upgraded from 2.6.5 to 2.8.4
When I log into my admin panel it still has the old 2.6.5 version yet it says I have 2.8.4
Here is a screen shot-
http://i35.tinypic.com/sccg94.jpg
It says this is Wordpress 2.8.4 please upgrade to Wordpress 2.8.4
The site works fine but the Admin area is still showing the old version. I've re-uploaded all the files several times but it still hasn't upgraded the Admin area.
What could be wrong???
What does it say at the bottom of your admin screens?
If it still says 2.6.5 at the bottom of your admin screens, delete and reupload per Steps 7 and 8 of Upgrading WordPress Extended.
If it says 2.8.4 at the bottom of your admin screens, then install the Core Control Plugin and use it to check for core update and it should get rid of the nag message.
At the bottom of the admin screens it says "Get Version 2.8.4" with a link to the latest WP version.
When I view the source code of the site it says it is "WordPress 2.8.4"
I guess I'll try the Core Control Plugin and see if that updates the admin area.
Anyone else know what could be wrong??
I've re-uploaded all the files twice now -- still same problem.
Thanks!
