Why is it so hard to figure out how to upload images to the Media Library?
I have googled the web and searched here and there has been consistent trouble with uploading images to Media Library - FOR YEARS. Hardly any of those issues are ever marked as "resolved". I only see that the posts are closed.
IS THERE A WRITTEN PROCEDURE FOR PROPERLY REPAIRING THE UPLOAD MECHANISM FOR THE MEDIA LIBRARY?
with differing server configurations this isn't as easy as it sounds

Unfortunately, I am new and so I don't quite remember exactly what I did to upload images. I must have done it properly the first 5 times or so but now when I upload, it pretends but after it is done, it either only shows a blank space or it shows the text I entered under 'caption' for the image. I can click on where the image thumbnail is supposed to be and that takes me presumably to where I should be able to see the image (Edit Media) but again, it shows me the caption and the description but no image.
If I try to put an image in a post it again pretends to work but when you look at the post it only shows some small, usually gray rectangle where the image should be.
File format does not matter nor have I seen any effect with the permissions. It was and continues to be 755 but I also tried 777.
