   Since changing my category name (which is included in permalink) I was told to update the .htaccess file to include the following for each old post:
   Redirect 301 http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?p=2 http://www.yoursite.com/the-new-post-title.htm

   Where is this file?

   It's in the root folder of your WordPress installation.

   Just to be clear the root is the same folder as wp-admin, wp-includes and wp-content.
