I just installed WordPress 2.7.1 on my site. Now it's telling me I have to upgrade to version 2.8.4. I tried to use the automatic upgrade and it's telling me:
Upgrade WordPress
Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.4.zip
Download failed.: Could not create Temporary file
Installation Failed
Does anyone have an idea why this would happen?

Check your file permissions.

I did. I've been advised in the hosting provider's support forums to try various combinations. Nothing seems to make any difference. Do you know where I can see exactly which folders should have which permissions?
Thanks.
Generally PHP creates temporary file in /tmp partition (on Linux platform). If there is any problem with tmp then you may face this problem.
