I just upgraded wordpress but I was also occasionally having this problem with 2.7 as well...

when I get the log-in screen I type "admin" and my password and literally nothing happens, no "log-in failure" or "incorrect username/password", nothing; the screen just seems to reload its self, the stuff I typed disappears and nothing happens. If I go to the lost password auto emailer from there the same thing happens, it says type in email, so I do, the screen blinks and nothing happens and I get no email.

All the permissions seem to be in order, I simply can't log-in!
    Please help!! :^/

Thanks for the suggestion esmi, I can't really do anything on that list cause I can't even access my dashboard...
But I searched the forums again and found this:

I seem to be having the same problem as this guy with one exception, I'm NOT using go daddy or any third party host, and I'm not using windows... I have Mac OSX.

One other thing, with this new version my site doesn't even appear...
But it does when I keep old version in.

Any more suggestions about the log-in problem?

If the problems are so severe that you can’t even access your Dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder via FTP or phpMyAdmin. If you can manage the phpMyAdmin approach, use it. Experience suggests that it offers the best success rate in eliminating problematic plugins.

From the link I gave above...

Hey, I've had this problem, but just stumbled across a fix. After saving you .htaccess file, delete its contents, so it is empty and try to log in. In my case I was always getting redirected to my home page, because something was broken. Haven't figured that bit out yet, but at least I get the dashboard when I log in.

    Hope this helps somebody.
