   I can just selct "private posts" and just one category, and that is not the category I want there. How to solve this?

   ps: I am using a plugin "maintenance mode" in order to hide the blog from oublic, since it's not finished yet.

   As answered before, WordPress only shows categories with posts. First add a post to a category and you will see it.

   Before asking is recommended to search the forum. If your question has been already answered, it's most likely nobody will answer it again.
