.htaccess - i want a html splash page while keeping index.php (1 post)

    i want to put my wordpress structure in the root. but i also want a splash page before getting wordpress' index.php. so i guess i need an index.html to showcase the splash page. how do i amend the .htaccess file to do that without messing up any redirects or wordpress loops.
