   I'm looking for a way to add social fields to the user profile pages for a multiple author blog so I can customize the author template.

   I'd like to add twitter, facebook, youtube, flickr, fields for all of those hot spots OUTSIDE of the loop, so it needs to function like so:

   ($curauth->twitter)

   I am not finding a plugin that is capable of these functions - the extended profile & extended user profiles do not offer these capabilities - do I need to hack core files & the database to make this happen?

   Turns out, I had better luck managing those extra fields with the Register Plus plugin, a lot less cumbersome and does employ the same shortcodes for use outside the loop. Slick results, as well.
