Looking for a plugin for download tracking/disabling hotlinking?

So I don’t know if “download manager” is the right term because I’ve tried a few different plugins already and I can’t actually get any of them to work.

I noticed some wordpress run sites where their download files look like /download/file=123123123

And if you try running the URL in your address bar or on an external site they don’t hotlink.

I run flutter which is a cms custom fields sort of plugin so a download counter/hotlink disabling plugin that uses custom fields seems ideal as I run a resource site and offer lots of downloads but I am very hesitant as the downloads are just linked to my files right now and so I don’t know how many clicks they have and can’t stop people from hotlinking.

Any help would be great, I promise I am not being lazy about this, I can’t figure out the right wording to get good plugin results for these.
