categories and tags cannot be find

    Hi.

    I’m building my wp blog locally on my comp via MAMP. Everything been working fine but now it seems that the categories and tags widget links aren’t working. When clicking a category (for instance ‘news’) i get this error message:

    Not Found

    The requested URL /wp/wordpresscategory/news was not found on this server.

    Apache/2.0.59 (Unix) PHP/5.1.6 DAV/2 Server at localhost Port 8888

    The same thing happens when i click a recent post or a tag.

    What can be the problem?

    It sounds like you changed your permalink settings and your version of apache isn’t working properly with the rewrite rules. If you change back to the default permalink settings do the pages etc work? If so you want to modify the apache configuration file (typically httpd.conf) to have the following for the directory your site is in:

    AllowOverride FileInfo
    Options +FollowSymLinks

    Super! It was the permalinks… which I had changed in order to use a plugin that I no longer use.
