   I'd like to change or modify things so that when I use the html editor (please note, NOT the visual editor) and I insert a link, it automatically puts "target="_blank" at the end of the link, so that it opens in a new window.

   I've looked at the quicktag.js file and truthfully I couldn't make anything out of that jumble of stuff. I'm on 2.8.4

   if someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

   Found a plugin that will do what I want this hack to do. Solved.
