Start reading here http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and make sure you back up your database too.
File backups are pretty trivial (you did copy the WordPress install onto your server yourself?) but pick a method for backing up your database.
Using phpMyAdmin is very popular but mysqldump well works too.
I’ll check the link but, no, I did not set up my blog myself. I have a customized theme created by programmer/designer. Does that change your instruction? Thanks!

Not really, the instructions are the same. I was asking because if you had set it up your self, you would already have had some familiarity with moving files back and forth.
Give the Codex link a good read and see if you are able to get a copy of all your files as well as the database.
