301 Redirect from WordPress.com to WordPress.org (3 posts)

    Hello,

My blog is currently at wordpress.com. I have purchased a domain name and would like to transfer my blog to wordpress.org.

I have a decent Google PR and Alexa rating and don't want to lose that in the move.

My understanding from searching forums on wordpress.com is that wp.com only allows 302 redirects and that a 301 redirect is necessary to maintain my rankings.

Is this the case? If not, what do I need to do to set up a 301 redirect from wp.com to wp.org?

Please keep in mind that I am NOT technical at all and need "301 redirect for dummies."

    Thanks!

You should ask at WordPress.com - you can't change the redirect on the receiving end. The redirect is done at the originating site.
