   I downloaded a fresh WP from WP.org. to start a new theme in MAMP. When I copied and pasted the files, I saw the addition of two files, one looks like it is in russian, the other chinese or japanese. I have not opened these files. Has anyone else had this problem. I am questioning a virus etc. let me know.

   I'm not seeing any odd files in the source zip.

   Thanks for responding mrmist. I didn't see any either. It was not until I copied and pasted the files into the htdocs for mamp that they were there. I am sure they weren't there before, because I had deleted all the prior files. I have a snapshot of the two files, but did not open them.

   I am not sure what they are, virus or other, but just concerned that suddenly they were there. They are rich text format. do you think they are viruses?

   Ok, I think I found the issue. It appears that it is NOT WP.. it does appear to be related to a different download. Sorry for the posts.
