    Hi all,

So i've been asked by a friend to help out her business. She has a site created in wordpress and hosted by GoDaddy. She's just handed me over all the passwords and stuff. So i figured that I need to install wordpress but all I can find is how to install for a new site. I need to get into the site that already exists. The guy who set it up for her is no longer around so it's a bit tricky. I'm a noob to wordpress too - I normally code sites with dreamweaver or the textedit - so be gentle with me.

How do i install wordpress without resetting or overwriting or having to start from fresh??

if wordpress is already installed....why are you reinstalling wordpress again? Do you need a second install?

Is something wrong with the current install?

Does nobody have an admin account or something? What exactly are you trying to do?

    Hey, thanks for the reply!

I'm working in a different location so need to install it onto my computer as i'm taking over the maintenance of it for her. So yes we can access it from her office but i'm trying to set it up for my location as well.

I'm a bit confused! You said it's on godaddy....so that is where WP is installed. It's not on any persons computer. To work on it, you'd log into the admin interface, from any computer. Or to godaddy for file manipulation......

WordPress isn't a program on a computer that generates websites.... its a software package that runs online, it IS the website

Or are you looking for a locally installed 'copy', like a duplicate dev environment...or...?

Guess I may still not be quite clear......
